The Storm Field

Based on a blur of dream experiences, memory, and stress of conflict at home. A document of the artists life from late childhood and early adolescence. In this strange landscape, I found myself wandering, often lost and disoriented. At some point in almost all these dreams there would be a tornado threatening. It’s slow approach causing me to run and search in vain for safety. I was often trying to get home, but would face obstacle after obstacle until the storm bore down upon me, a fury of raging wind and debris. Once the recurring narratives and scenes became so familiar, I started to fashion my own stories out of these combinations and daydream in them when highly stressed. It became a coping mechanism. I invented my own daring fables where I wasn’t lost, threatened or helpless, where I imagined myself the architect of my own transformation.
